Why Wagyu?

What is Wagyu Beef?

Wagyu, which means "Japanese Cow," is a collection of 4 breeds of cattle descended from cows that were used for agricultural work for centuries. Over time, their intra-muscular fat developed into the marbling that people recognize today. Ever since it was imported to the United States, it has been recognized as the best beef on the market. Now, American Block is bringing this amazing beef to dinner tables everywhere, at a price that families can afford.

What makes Wagyu Special?

Wagyu cattle have specific features that make up a better fat composition. These features include a higher count of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids carry many health benefits and can help reduce inflammation, while Omega-6 fatty acids can improve brain health. These softer fats have a melting point similar to that of butter, which increases the tenderness of the beef while it cooks.

Ethical Farming Practices

There are many stories out there about Kobe (a type of Wagyu) and other Wagyu beef being raised unethically by making sure they never touch the ground, are feed alcohol, and massaged everyday for tenderness. Most of these are myths, and none of them apply to the farming practices at American Block Meats + Steaks, and our farming partner, Bryson Farms. Our Farm spans 1100 acres, providing plenty of room for our cattle to be pasture raised, with room to roam. We believe that clean and ethical practices are key to providing a great product with a clean conscious. If you would like to tour the farm, Contacts us here!
